There has been an upsurge in interest in growing fresh vegetables and this trend continues to gain momentum – it seems everyone wants to join the renaissance! Decor Gardenworld has a massive selection of vegetable seeds and seedlings to choose from and here are a few tips to ensure that your seasonal crop yields some wonderful produce.
Basically vegetables will grow well in any well-drained soil which contains a lot of well decayed organic compost.
The more leafy crops such as broccoli, cabbage, leeks, beet, lettuce and other salad crops continue their popularity as do tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchinis, capsicums and mung beans with many varieties such as climbers and dwarfs.
Root crops such as potatoes (which may be grown in any season where frost is minimal), kumara and carrots are also a popular choice here at Decor Gardenworld.
With today’s scenario of smaller living spaces you may not have the luxury of having enough room to provide for a regular style vegetable garden. However – no need to despair as it is very possible to successfully produce many good quality vegetables in large pots or containers using lots of compost and good quality potting mix and making sure you feed regularly. In this container situation we recommend tomatoes, lettuces and other summer salad crops along with cabbage and beet. Herbs can also be very successful in containers or pots and even in hanging baskets!
