Fruiting Plants

Home grown fruit trees make a great addition to any garden. Plant a range of fruit trees with different ripening times and you'll enjoy fresh fruit throughout the year.

Imagine walking no further than your own garden to pick beautiful fresh fruit - crisp apples, plump juicy peaches, plums, apricots, nectarines, cherries, figs, grapes, berries, citrus ... almond and walnuts ...

At Decor Gardenworld we have the best fruit trees in Tauranga - top grade and advanced growth.

Our large selection also includes double grafted apples, plums and pears - that means two varieties on the one tree - very clever!

We also have dwarf fruit trees and citrus which are ideal for the smaller garden and they grow extremely well in pots and containers and yield an abundance of fruit.

TIPS ON HOW TO GROW FRUIT TREES:

For the best results plant fruit trees in full sun, shelter them from strong prevailing winds and plant in fertile well draining soil. Stake to secure if required.

Deciduous fruit trees can be planted in the winter months when they are dormant.

Fertilise when planting with a Ican Slow Food. Fertilise all fruiting plants thereafter with Ican Fruit Food in Spring and Autumn.

Cross Pollination - grow more than one type of fruit tree. Although some fruit trees are self-fertile, pollination is enhanced by a pollinator, producing a more abundant crop of fruit. See our Pear and Plum Pollinating Guides below or our knowledgeable staff can advise you on varieties and pollinators.

Maintain your regular fruit tree spray programme. It is important to spray with the correct product at the correct time so please ask one of our staff.

Prune fruit trees to a size suitable for your garden and to produce not only a good quantity but also a good quality of fruit. Protect large stem cuts from disease by sealing with pruning paint.

Keep well watered during early stages, hot dry periods and when fruit is developing.
