It's that time of year again! FREE pumkin seeds are now available - so get planting and see if you will be our champion pumpkin grower this year. We had some fabulous entries last year so if you are looking for a little inspiration on how to decorate your pumpkin see below for a few ideas. If you want to grow a truly magnificent specimen Here are a few tips from our 'experts':
Make sure you plant your pumpkin in a sunny place with lots of compost. Feed them regularly with a good quality liquid fertiliser and keep them well watered over summer. Only allow 1 or 2 pumpkins to grow on each plant making sure they don't crush the plants stem as they grow. Remove the leaves nearest to the fruit and support the growing stems to relieve the pressure on the stalks.
