Growing Bulbs in Pots

Décor Gardenworld Tauranga - Plants, gifts & café

Here at Décor Gardenworld we have a fabulous selection of pots, planters and containers in all shapes sizes and colours to compliment your favourite plants and flowering bulbs.  With careful planning and planting, bulbs could be flowering in your garden right through to the end of summer.  Bulbs suitable for containers or pots include Daffodils, Lachenalia, Muscari, Hyacinths and Tulips.

Select a clean container (minimum depth of 12cms is required) with at least one drainage hole.  Partially cover the hole to ensure the hole is not blocked. Partly fill pot with bulb or potting mix. Place the bulbs so that they do not quite touch each other. Cover bulbs with mix and press down to firm, allowing 2cms below the top of the pot and water. Initially place in a cool shaded spot.  When the first growth occurs, place the pot in a sunny or partially shaded site and keep moist.
