RHUBARB - SO EASY TO GROW

It's time to plant rhubarb or give existing plants an annual tidy-up.   Plant rhubarb in a rich organic mix and you will be well rewarded - although generally grown in the garden where plants have room to spread rhubarb looks spectacular and will produce really well in a large container.  Existing plants need to be kept weed free and remember to pull stalks rather than cut them.

CLEAN UP YOUR LOPPERS & PRUNERS

With pruning, cutting back and tidying up a year round task in the garden it is important to maintain your tools and equipment to ensure sharp blades for clean fast-healing cuts.  Remember to clean and sharpen your loppers, secatuers and prunders after use.  Remove sap and debris from the blades and lubricate where the blade surfaces touch.  Tools can be sharpened with a tungsten-carbide sharpener or taken to a specialist for sharpening.  Don't be tempted to use a file on your blade which could cause damage.
